As a successful Director of Photography specializing in commercial shoots and visual storytelling, Tim approached us to enhance his online portfolio and, without having any coding experience, to give him a way to easily create bespoke showcase pages to highlight his work to potential clients.
With over 100 projects and thousands of photo and video assets and examples, the key was to create a back end structure for easily filing and managing projects and project pages, and to give him the ability to select specific projects and create custom URLs to share. The site and most of the assets were already hosted on cPanel so we kept much of the back end structure. Tim sources most of his work via agency contacts so SEO was not a critical factor in site design. This enabled us to keep text to a minimum and focus on what Tim does best - letting his photography and camera work do the talking.
The end result is a site that is dynamic and responsive, with some neat transitional animations. We reorganized the asset library and created a showcase enpoint, where Tim can create and organize custom pages simply by supplying an array of project IDs and a slug name. It allows him to quickly respond to project requests with a curated selection of his work, or to create pages at the request of his agency. Job done!
